• Extends the deadline for employers to file a notice contesting workers' compensation liability from 28 days to 45 days after receiving a written notice of claim.

• Extends the deadline for employers to commence payment of compensation from 28 days to 45 days after receiving a written notice of claim if they do not contest liability.

• Employers who fail to contest liability or commence payment within the 45-day period are conclusively presumed to have accepted the compensability of the alleged injury or death.

• Employers may still contest compensation on any grounds or the extent of disability within one year from receipt of the written notice of claim, provided they commence payment within the 45-day period.

• The act becomes effective on July 1, 2022, and amends Connecticut General Statutes section 31-294c(b).
