HB 5358 Summary

• Repeals and replaces Section 14-54 of the general statutes regarding certificates of approval for motor vehicle dealership and repair shop licenses, effective October 1, 2022

• Requires applicants to obtain certificates of approval from the zoning enforcement official (rather than designated local boards) affirming that the proposed location and use conform to municipal zoning regulations

• Mandates that certificates must also be approved by the local building official and local fire marshal

• Exempts from these requirements transfers of ownership to spouses, children, siblings, or parents; transfers involving corporations where these relatives have controlling interest; and changes in ownership involving partner withdrawals
