Requires municipalities referred to the Municipal Accountability Review Board to be audited on an annual basis by the Auditors of Public Accounts, rather than on a biennial basis.

Audits may include examination of relevant information held by private entities with contracts with audited departments, commissions, boards, or courts, provided at no cost upon demand in a format prescribed by auditors.

Audits may examine performance and effectiveness in achieving expressed legislative purposes, with findings reported to the Governor, State Comptroller, and the joint standing committee on appropriations and budgets.

Excludes municipalities referred to the Municipal Accountability Review Board from the definition of "municipality" in chapter 7 statutory provisions regarding municipal auditing and reporting requirements.

All amendments take effect October 1, 2022.
