Commissioner of Administrative Services shall recruit interns for summer worker professional engineer positions at the Department of Transportation when requested, promoting recruitment at public and independent institutions of higher education, effective July 1, 2022.

Summer worker professional engineer compensation shall increase annually starting July 1, 2023 by the percentage increase in the national consumer price index for urban wage earners and clerical workers for the previous twelve months.

Commissioner of Administrative Services shall conduct continuous recruitment for entry-level engineering, entry-level transportation maintainer one, and transportation maintainer two positions from July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2025.

Commissioner of Transportation must make an employment offer or reject an application within 120 days of submission for any of the positions listed above.

Commissioner of Transportation may consider an application for one Department of Transportation position for any other open position at the department without requiring a separate application, provided the candidate meets minimum qualifications for the other position.
