The Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity and Opportunity shall conduct a study in collaboration with the Social and Emotional Learning and School Climate Advisory Collaborative and community-based bereavement and grief counseling resource centers.

The study shall determine the extent and availability of bereavement and grief counseling organizations and services for children and families statewide.

The study shall assess the feasibility of implementing a statewide program to deliver such services at no cost to participants, including recommendations on service types, eligibility criteria, and geographic distribution.

Study recommendations shall identify opportunities to utilize private gifts, grants, donations, and available federal funding to support the program.

The Commission must submit a report with study findings and legislative recommendations to the joint standing committee on children by January 1, 2024.
