Licensed contractors may sign building permit applications personally or delegate signing to an employee, subcontractor, or agent by providing an original dated letter on company letterhead with the contractor's original signature.

The authorization letter must include the municipality name, job name or description, job starting date, licensed contractor name, agent name, and license numbers of all contractors involved in the work.

Authorization letters must be originals with original signatures, not copies or facsimiles.

If a building official provides an electronic building permit application, licensed contractors may complete and submit the application directly through that electronic system.
