Municipalities must prepare or amend affordable housing plans by June 1, 2022, and at least once every five years thereafter, submitting them to the Secretary of the Office of Policy and Management.

For any affordable housing plan submitted after October 1, 2023, municipalities must specify how they intend to improve the accessibility of affordable housing units for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Municipalities must continue to specify in their plans how they intend to increase the number of affordable housing developments in the municipality.

Affordable housing plans may be included as part of a municipality's plan of conservation and development to avoid duplicative submissions.

Municipalities may submit affordable housing plans early to coincide with plans of conservation and development submissions, with the next submission due five years thereafter.
