Department of Education shall develop guidelines and best practices by January 1, 2024, for school food service employees to interact with students in respectful and sensitive ways that support positive associations with food.

Department of Education shall post the guidelines and best practices on its website and update them as deemed necessary.

Beginning with the school year commencing July 1, 2024, and each year thereafter, local and regional boards of education must annually provide copies of the guidelines to food service employees who have regular, direct contact with students.

"School food service employee" is defined as an individual employed by or under contract with a local or regional board of education who prepares or serves meals for student consumption.

Act takes effect July 1, 2023.
