Police officers and firefighters have workers' compensation coverage that encompasses travel from home to duty, the duty itself, and return home after duty.

Department of Correction employees receive portal-to-portal coverage when responding to direct orders during emergencies when nonessential staff are excused, or after two or more consecutive mandatory overtime shifts.

Telecommunicators receive portal-to-portal workers' compensation coverage when subject to emergency call-backs while off-duty, responding to direct orders during nonessential employee excusals, or following two or more consecutive mandatory overtime shifts.

Dependents of Department of Correction employees who died between July 1, 2000 and July 15, 2000 from work-related injuries are eligible for retroactive death compensation under section 31-306, with costs reimbursed from the Second Injury Fund.
