The Commissioner of Public Health may conduct audits of local health department food protection programs.

Audits may include interviews with local health department staff members and joint inspections of local food establishments with local health department staff.

The Commissioner must provide the local director of health with a written report detailing audit findings and any recommended or necessary corrective actions.

The act takes effect upon passage and creates a new section of statute.

The bill received a joint favorable recommendation from the Public Health Committee.
