Department of Transportation and each transit district must jointly develop a plan to modernize and maintain bus stops and shelters throughout Connecticut, effective upon passage.

Plan must ensure all bus stops and shelters comply with Americans with Disabilities Act physical accessibility guidelines and include sidewalks, curb cuts, ramps, weather shelter, lighting, and real-time transportation information signage.

Plan shall consider installing solar photovoltaic systems at bus stops and shelters to power lights and enable mobile device charging.

Plan must include strategies to ensure ongoing maintenance and safety of bus stops and shelters after construction.

Commissioner must submit the plan to the joint standing committee on transportation by February 1, 2024, in accordance with section 11-4a of Connecticut's general statutes.
