HB 6757 Summary

• Extends deadline for local and regional boards of education to adopt and implement teacher evaluation and support programs from September 1, 2013 to September 1, 2024, with full implementation required by July 1, 2024.

• Changes teacher designation from "not rated" to "not evaluated" when teachers do not receive a summative evaluation during a school year.

• Eliminates requirement to report "aggregate evaluation ratings" to the Commissioner of Education and removes references to specific rating designators (Exemplary, Proficient, Developing, Below Standard) from state guidelines.

• Removes requirement for specific performance rating levels in teacher improvement and remediation plans and shifts focus to audit of remediation plans rather than evaluation ratings.

• Changes training frequency for evaluators and teachers from biennial to annual, effective July 1, 2023.

• Repeals pilot program requirements (sections 10-151f and 10-151g) related to teacher evaluation and support programs.
