Local and regional boards of education must conduct tests of drinking water supply locations and equipment in all school buildings by July 1, 2024, and provide results to the Department of Education, Department of Public Health, and Department of Administrative Services.

Local directors of public health may conduct the tests on behalf of school boards if authorized to do so.

School boards become eligible to apply for school building project grants under chapter 173 of the general statutes if tests reveal inadequate drinking water supply or failure to meet Department of Public Health water quality standards.

Amends section 10-283(b) to add remedying or replacing drinking water supply locations or equipment (including water fountains and water bottle filling stations) as an eligible reason for school building project grants.

Effective date is July 1, 2023.
