The Commissioner of Public Health shall convene a working group to evaluate and advise the Department of Public Health on cardiac screening methods for first responders to detect cardiac issues early.

The working group must include at least two cardiologists with cardiac screening research experience, representatives from firefighter and fire chief associations, a member of the Connecticut Commission on Fire Prevention and Control, representatives from police chief and emergency medical services associations, a hospital association representative, a medical society representative, the executive director of the Office of Emergency Medical Services (or designee), and the Commissioner of Emergency Services and Public Protection (or designee).

The Commissioner of Public Health must report the working group's findings and recommendations to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of public health matters no later than January 1, 2024.

This act takes effect upon passage and creates a new section of statute.
