Police Officer Standards and Training Council must develop training curricula by July 1, 2023 for officer interactions with persons who have mental or physical disabilities, and separate curricula for interactions with persons who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deafblind, developed in consultation with affected communities and advocates.

Starting July 1, 2024, all police training curricula must include crisis intervention strategies for officers to use when interacting with individuals experiencing mental illness crises.

All police basic and review training programs conducted by the Police Officer Standards and Training Council, Division of State Police, and municipal police departments must include the developed training curricula beginning October 1, 2023.

Police Officer Standards and Training Council must examine police-social worker collaboration programs and strategies by January 1, 2024, including reviewing an evaluation from public act 20-1 of the July special session.

Police Officer Standards and Training Council must issue guidance to law enforcement units by January 1, 2024 with recommendations on how police officers can collaborate with social workers.
