Nominating petition pages for regular elections must be submitted by 4 p.m. on the 90th day before the election to the town clerk, or by 4 p.m. on the 97th day before the election to the Secretary of the State.

Nominating petition pages for special elections must be submitted by 4 p.m. on the 70th day before the election to the town clerk, or by 4 p.m. on the 77th day before the election to the Secretary of the State.

When a special election is held with a regular election and the writ is issued at least 14 days before the municipal primary filing deadline, the special election deadline matches the regular election deadline under the same subsection.

Petition pages may be submitted either to the town clerk of the town where signers reside or to the Secretary of the State, who will forward them to the appropriate town clerk for signature certification.

Town clerk offices must open by 1 p.m. and remain open until at least 4 p.m. on the final filing deadline, with the town clerk or assistant town clerk present.
