Building officials must conduct inspections within 10 business days of a permit holder's requested date, effective January 1, 2024

Permit holders may hire state-approved independent inspection firms if building officials cannot meet the 10-day deadline or demonstrate repeated inability to conduct timely inspections

Municipalities must establish processes to ensure timely inspections, including options for shared services agreements with other municipalities or contracts with independent inspection firms

Permit holders who use independent inspectors due to municipal delays are entitled to fee reconciliation from the municipality, capped at the amount of permit fees already paid

State Building Inspector and Codes and Standards Committee must develop an approved list of independent inspection firms by January 1, 2024, with annual reporting requirements beginning March 1, 2025
