HB 5058: Nurse Licensure Compact

• Enacts the Nurse Licensure Compact effective October 1, 2025 through January 1, 2028, allowing nurses licensed in Connecticut to practice in other party states under multistate licensure privileges

• Establishes mutual recognition of registered nurse (RN) and licensed practical/vocational nurse (LPN/VN) licenses issued by home states, reducing duplicate licensure requirements across states

• Creates the Interstate Commission of Nurse Licensure Compact Administrators to coordinate licensure, enforce rules, manage disciplinary information sharing, and administer a coordinated licensure information system

• Requires fingerprint-based criminal background checks for multistate license applicants and allows nurses to convert multistate licenses to single-state licenses upon request

• Mandates a working group report by January 1, 2027 evaluating Connecticut's continued participation in the compact regarding public health and safety impacts
