Establishes a working group to study whether Connecticut should redesignate its state insect, currently the praying mantis under section 3-109b of the general statutes.

Working group shall examine reasons for retaining the current state insect and consider alternative native insects including the spring azure butterfly and autumn meadowhawk dragonfly.

Membership consists of eight members appointed by legislative leaders: two by House Speaker (one student interested in spring azure butterfly), two by Senate President Pro Tempore (one student interested in autumn meadowhawk dragonfly), and one each by House and Senate majority and minority leaders.

Initial appointments must be made within 30 days of passage, with the first meeting held within 60 days.

Working group must submit a report with findings and recommendations to the joint standing committee on government administration by February 15, 2025, and terminates upon submission or that date, whichever is later.
