The Commissioner of Public Health must amend barber school minimum curriculum requirements to include education and training on working with textured hair, including various curl and wave patterns, hair strand thicknesses, and volumes of hair, in consultation with the Connecticut Examining Board for Barbers, Hairdressers and Cosmeticians.

The Commissioner must amend hairdressing and cosmetology school curricula to include education and training on providing services to individuals with textured hair, including curl and wave patterns, hair strand thicknesses, and volumes of hair.

"Textured hair" is defined as hair that is coiled, curly, or wavy.

Curricula and procedures implemented under this act are valid until final regulations are adopted.

The Commissioner must post the hairdressing and cosmetology school curriculum on the Department of Public Health's website.

This act takes effect July 1, 2024.
