Local and regional school districts may apply starting July 1, 2025 for agreements with private carriers to provide between 1 and 50 seat belt-equipped buses per district

School districts must notify parents about seat belt availability and instruct students on proper use, fastening, and unfastening of the safety belts

Districts, contracted carriers, and bus operators are shielded from liability for injuries resulting solely from a student's use, misuse, or failure to use the seat belts

Joint legislative committees on transportation and education must hold a public hearing during the 2030 session to evaluate program participation and effectiveness
