Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection shall administer a grant program for local and regional boards of education to provide school mapping data beginning in fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, and annually thereafter, subject to available appropriations.

School mapping data must be compatible with public safety agency software platforms and security systems without requiring additional software purchases or access fees, and must be provided in printable and digital formats.

Mapping data must include accurate floor plans overlaid on aerial imagery, site-specific labels for buildings and grounds (rooms, hallways, doors, hazards, utilities, AEDs, trauma kits, parking, fields, roads), true north orientation, and gridded x and y coordinates.

Mapping data must be verified for accuracy through walk-throughs, cannot be independently modified without corresponding updates in public safety systems, and shall be provided to school boards and agencies at no cost beyond initial production and made permanently available.

Department must develop eligibility criteria, application forms, and deadlines by October 1, 2024, and submit annual reports to the joint standing committee on public safety and security beginning January 1, 2026, detailing applications received, grants awarded, and participating schools.
