Expands military training leave for full-time permanent state employees from three calendar weeks to not more than fifteen days per year, which shall be paid leave in addition to annual vacation.

Employees entering armed forces as specified in section 5-255 receive unpaid leave for time served plus an additional ninety days.

Full-time permanent state employees qualifying for United States Olympic Committee-recognized teams receive up to ninety days of paid leave to compete in Olympic games, with position held.

Updates gender-specific language throughout the statute to use neutral terms like "the employee's" instead of "his" or "his or her."

Effective July 1, 2024.
