Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station employees may now serve on boards of directors of start-up companies or receive compensation from start-ups that commercialize their inventions, with board approval

Employees must share net proceeds from their inventions with the station according to board rules, and cannot have active disputes pending regarding the invention

The station retains ownership of employee inventions conceived during work duties, from station research programs, or developed using station resources

Employees receive a minimum of 20% of net proceeds from commercialized inventions, with the board having discretion to increase this amount

The board must establish policies ensuring employee spin-off rights are consistent with those of researchers at other Connecticut public universities and agencies
