Probate Court judges must devote full-time to judicial duties and are prohibited from practicing law or being a partner, member, or associate of a law firm

Probate Court judges cannot act as arbitrators, referees, or compensated mediators, nor engage in any other profession or business that interferes with judicial duties

General effective date is January 5, 2027 for current judges

Judges elected for terms beginning on or after January 5, 2027, who continue serving without a break, have until January 9, 2031 to comply with the new requirements

Aims to eliminate conflicts of interest and align Probate Court standards with requirements for other members of the judiciary
