Electric vehicle manufacturers selling in Connecticut must issue model-specific fire extinguishing guides by January 1, 2027, covering chemical chain reactions, battery fire reignition prevention, and safe storage of vehicles with damaged batteries

Manufacturers must provide these guides to the State Fire Marshal, who will distribute them to local fire marshals for dissemination to fire protection personnel in each town, city, or borough

Starting January 1, 2027, manufacturer license applicants must submit an affidavit confirming they have provided required fire guides to the State Fire Marshal

The bill amends existing manufacturer licensing requirements under section 14-67a, which includes a biennial license fee of $2,300 and a $250 late renewal fee

Effective date is October 1, 2025 for both the new guide requirement and amendments to manufacturer licensing statutes
