Military families can use military orders or transfer documents as proof of residency to enroll children in Connecticut schools before physically relocating to the state, effective July 1, 2025

Children of armed forces members may continue attending their current school through the school year if the military parent receives orders transferring them out of the town mid-year

School boards must complete reevaluations within 30 days of enrollment for military children transferring with an IEP or Section 504 plan, including record transfers and necessary meetings to ensure comparable services

Schools must provide special education students with an informational handout, the Parent's Guide to Special Education in Connecticut, and information about rights and available resources
