Any person may file a complaint about an alleged dog bite or attack with the animal control officer in the town or region where the incident occurred

Animal control officers are required to investigate all reported dog bite or attack complaints and report their findings to the Chief State Animal Control Officer

If an investigation confirms a person was bitten or attacked by a dog, the animal control officer may order restraint or disposal of the dog as necessary to protect public health and safety
