Nursing homes and managed residential communities must provide and maintain an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a central, accessible location by January 1, 2026

AED locations must be made known to staff, residents, and visiting family members

AEDs must be maintained and tested according to manufacturer's guidelines

At least one staff member trained in CPR and AED use (per American Red Cross or American Heart Association standards) must be on premises during all hours of operation

Applies to facilities serving primarily persons 55 years or older, but excludes state-funded congregate housing facilities; effective October 1, 2025
