Office of the Healthcare Advocate must contract with a vendor to develop an online portal helping patients identify and apply for hospital financial assistance programs statewide, effective July 1, 2025

Portal will include application streamlining tools, eligibility screening, and information on avoiding future medical debt

Office may publish information about Connecticut's medical debt erasure initiative and develop recommendations to help patients avoid medical debt

Starting July 1, 2026, hospitals with financial assistance programs must provide the Office of the Healthcare Advocate with website links and contact information for their programs

Hospitals must notify the Office within 30 days of any changes to their financial assistance applications, referral contacts, or new programs
