Public agencies may charge redaction fees for body-worn camera and dashboard camera footage, capped at $100 per hour of actual recording length, with the first four hours of redaction labor provided free

No search or retrieval fees may be charged, and labor costs beyond the first four hours are limited to the hourly wage of the lowest-paid qualified employee

Fees are waived entirely for involved persons (anyone depicted in or directly involved in the recorded incident), their parents/guardians, and their attorneys

Fees are also waived when footage shows officer-involved shootings, motor vehicle accidents, use of force statements, or when officers face misconduct allegations or disciplinary investigations

Agencies must notify requesters and may require prepayment if estimated redaction costs exceed $250, with refunds required if actual costs are lower than prepaid amounts
