Elevators and escalators in multistory buildings housing persons 65 years or older may be inspected by either a department elevator inspector or a qualified elevator inspector at least once every 18 months

Qualified elevator inspectors conducting inspections in senior housing must submit inspection reports to the State Building Inspector in a prescribed form and manner

"Qualified elevator inspector" is defined as a person certified by the National Association of Elevator Safety Authorities International

Effective date is October 1, 2025

Amends Section 29-195 of the general statutes to expand who may conduct elevator inspections in senior housing facilities
