Creates a new class D felony for intentionally making false written statements or entering false information in law enforcement records with intent to mislead a public servant, effective October 1, 2025

Adds false statements in law enforcement records as grounds for cancellation or revocation of police officer certification by the Police Officer Standards and Training Council

Requires chief law enforcement officers to report to the council when certificate holders engage in misconduct reflecting on truthfulness, including evidence tampering, perjury, or knowingly making untruthful statements during official inquiries

Mandates chief law enforcement officers promptly notify the appropriate state's attorney when they reasonably suspect a certificate holder has violated any criminal law

Exempts from Freedom of Information Act disclosure any formal complaint records against police officers or correction officers until such complaints have been investigated and adjudicated by the proper legal authority
