Early voting period for regular elections runs from the 15th day prior through the 2nd day prior to election day, excluding legal holidays; primaries (other than presidential preference) have an 8-day early voting period, while special elections and presidential preference primaries have a 4-day period

Municipalities with public college campuses housing at least 1,000 students must designate an additional early voting location on campus; municipalities with 20,000+ population may hold public hearings on adding early voting locations

Early voting ballots will now be fed directly into voting tabulators rather than stored in envelopes, with ballots secured and sealed at the end of each day and vote totals produced after polls close on election day

Registrars of voters must submit annual written certifications of early voting and same-day registration locations to the Secretary of State by February 15, with approval/disapproval by March 1; changes require updated certification within 7 days

Moderators are disqualified from appointment if convicted of felonies involving fraud, forgery, larceny, embezzlement, or bribery, or any criminal offense under the elections title; the deadline for unaffiliated voters to enroll in a party before a primary extends from 5 days to 18 days (effective January 1, 2026)
