Police officers employed in Connecticut for at least 5 years become eligible for tuition waivers at Connecticut State Community College, Connecticut State University System, and University of Connecticut, effective July 1, 2026

Uniformed members of paid or volunteer fire departments who have served at least 5 years (as documented by their fire chief) qualify for the same tuition waivers at all three public higher education systems

Students attending the state fire school enrolled in programs coordinated with regional community-technical colleges that accredit courses become eligible for tuition waivers

Connecticut Housing Finance Authority must develop a mortgage assistance program for police officers and firefighters by October 1, 2026, providing down payment assistance or housing subsidies for home purchases in the communities they serve

Tuition waivers are reduced by any educational reimbursement received from an employer
