Courts must state on the record their reasons for declining to issue a standing criminal protective order when a person is convicted of, or found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect of, a family violence crime

Amends Connecticut General Statutes section 53a-40e(a) regarding standing criminal protective orders

Applies to family violence crimes as defined in section 46b-38a, including attempts or conspiracy to commit such crimes

Effective date is October 1, 2026
