Local permitting authorities must refund $70 to firearm permit applicants if the authority fails to meet statutory time limits for processing applications under sections 29-28a or 29-29

Effective date is October 1, 2026, amending section 29-30 of the general statutes

Fees remain non-refundable if the permit was simply not issued or renewed, except for the new refund requirement tied to missed deadlines

The portion of fees used for FBI national criminal history records checks cannot be refunded under any circumstances

Current permit fees remain unchanged: $200 for retail firearm sales permits, $140 plus FBI check costs for pistol/revolver carry permits, and $70 for renewals
