Individual and group health insurance policies that cover chemotherapy must also cover scalp cooling systems (devices that cool the scalp to prevent or reduce chemotherapy-related hair loss) at a level at least equivalent to Medicare coverage, effective January 1, 2027

Out-of-pocket costs (coinsurance, copayments, deductibles) for scalp cooling systems cannot be more restrictive than costs for other benefits under the same policy

High deductible health plans are exempt from the deductible limitations for scalp cooling coverage

Insurers may require prior authorization for scalp cooling systems only if prior authorization is required in the same manner for other covered benefits

Applies to policies delivered, issued, renewed, amended, or continued in Connecticut on or after January 1, 2027
