HJR 7 Summary

• Establishes a study group to assess child mental health needs in Kent and Sussex Counties, with particular focus on child victims of sexual assault.

• Study group to be convened by August 31, 2011 and chaired by the Lieutenant Governor, comprising 12 members including state officials, legislative representatives, mental health professionals, and public appointees.

• Study group shall meet no less than monthly and is responsible for evaluating mental health needs and developing findings and recommendations.

• Department of Services for Children, Youth and their Families to provide staff support and materials for the study group.

• Final report with findings and recommendations due to the Speaker of the House, Senate President pro tempore, and Governor by March 14, 2012.
