Dog owners must apply for an individual dog license within 30 days of the dog receiving its rabies vaccination, replacing the previous March 1 deadline

Dog licenses remain valid for a period determined by the county, not exceeding 3 years, with fees up to $10 annually for spayed/neutered dogs and $15 for unspayed/unneutered dogs

Exception provided for dogs that are current on rabies vaccination and already licensed but received a booster due to exposure to a potentially rabid animal

Veterinarians administering rabies vaccines must inform dog owners of the 30-day licensing requirement and provide the necessary licensing forms

Applies to dog owners outside the City of Wilmington for dogs 6 months of age or older
