Senate Resolution No. 17

• Honors the Honorable William Burton Chandler III of Dagsboro upon his retirement from the office of Chancellor of the Delaware Court of Chancery on June 17, 2011, after serving since 1997

• Recognizes Chancellor Chandler's distinguished judicial career beginning with his appointment as Resident Judge of Superior Court in Sussex County in 1985, followed by his appointment as Vice Chancellor in 1989, and Chancellor in 1997

• Acknowledges his reappointment to a second 12-year term as Chancellor in 2009 and his reputation as one of the most respected jurists in the United States

• Commends his contributions to Delaware and his active engagement in his native Sussex County community, particularly regarding education quality and preservation of the county's traditional character

• Directs the presentation of a suitable copy of the resolution to Chancellor Chandler during his visit to the Senate Chamber on June 2, 2011
