Recognizes 2013 as the centennial of the adoption of the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice by the National Association of REALTORS

Acknowledges the National Association of REALTORS was founded in 1908 and formally adopted the Code of Ethics in 1913 based on the Golden Rule

Notes the Code was divided into duties toward clients and duties toward other real estate professionals, with the term "REALTOR" adopted to distinguish ethical members from unscrupulous "curbstoners"

Highlights that in 1923 local boards were required to adopt and enforce the national Code of Ethics, and in 1999 a mandatory four-year ethics training cycle was instituted

Commends REALTORS serving on NAR's Professional Standards Committee for maintaining the Code as a living document protecting buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants, and the public
