Supports the Million Hearts initiative, a collaborative effort between the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, US Department of Health and Human Services, and over 100 public and private sector partners to prevent 1 million heart attacks and strokes across the United States over the next four years.

Recognizes that cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in Delaware and the nation, accounting for 1 of 3 deaths nationwide with annual costs of $297.7 billion.

Acknowledges the Delaware Million Hearts Coalition, formed by the Delaware Healthcare Association, American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, Christiana Care Health System, Delaware State University, Nemours, and the Division of Public Health.

Encourages Delawareans to monitor and control two key health metrics: waist circumference and blood pressure, and to make healthy lifestyle choices including regular physical activity and a diet high in fiber, fruits, and vegetables while low in sodium and saturated fat.

Calls upon the Division of Public Health and other Delaware State agencies to assist the Delaware Million Hearts Coalition in achieving the national goal of preventing 1 million heart attacks and strokes over the next four years.
