HCR 42 Summary

• Recognizes approximately 145 young men from Delaware public and private high schools who participated in the 2015 Boys State session held June 14, 2015 at Legislative Hall in Dover.

• Commends the participants for gaining hands-on experience in the legislative process, including learning how bills become laws, studying elections, legislative caucus and committee systems, and understanding representative democracy.

• Notes that Boys State participants elected their own Governor, Lieutenant Governor, State Treasurer, State Auditor, State Insurance Commissioner, and leadership of both houses of the General Assembly during the session.

• Expresses hope that some participants may pursue future leadership roles in government or seek elective office.

• Thanks the American Legion Department of Delaware for sponsoring this educational program and directs copies of the resolution be presented to all delegates and the American Legion.
