DE SB122

Grants the State Board of Education authority to change school district boundaries in New Castle County consistent with redistricting recommendations from the Wilmington Education Advisory Committee's March 31, 2015 report, contingent on General Assembly passage and Governor approval of a Joint Resolution.

Requires the State Board or Wilmington Education Improvement Commission to conduct at least one public hearing in each affected school district, including at least two in the City of Wilmington, before implementing boundary changes.

Mandates the Wilmington Education Improvement Commission develop a transition, resource, and implementation plan addressing student reassignment, staff implications, required resources, transportation, asset distribution, and community engagement for State Board approval.

Permits students to continue attending their pre-boundary change schools with tuition payments from the sending district until completing grade levels offered at that school.

Terminates the State Board and Wilmington Education Improvement Commission's authority to act under these provisions on March 31, 2016.
