Commemorates July 1, 2016 as the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the Battle of the Somme in World War I.

Recognizes the Battle of the Somme as one of the largest battles in World War I, lasting four months near the Somme River in France with 1.5 million total casualties.

Notes that 57,470 British soldiers were killed or injured on July 1st, 1916 alone, the battle's opening day.

Directs that a copy of the resolution be presented to the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Washington D.C. upon enactment.
