HB 192 Summary

• Creates a special license plate for professional emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and retired professional EMTs in Delaware who possess official documentation from the Delaware State Fire Prevention Commission.

• Applies only to private passenger vehicles, trucks with 3/4-ton or less manufacturer's rated capacity, and vans with 3/4-ton or less manufacturer's rated capacity.

• Original application requires a one-time $10 administrative fee deposited into a special fund for the Division of Motor Vehicles to promote the plate and administer the program; no additional fee beyond standard annual registration is required.

• Minimum of 50 applicants must apply before the plate can be issued, with a limit of one plate per applicant.

• Special license plates will include the letters "EMT" and numbered consecutively beginning with the EMT's station number; upon the holder's death, the Department requests the plate be returned within 90 days.
