Adds a new intervention step requiring schools to contact parents and schedule a conference after a student's fifth unexcused absence to assess needs and available support services.

Maintains existing requirements for home visits by visiting teachers after 10 unexcused absences and certified mail notification after 15 unexcused absences.

Renumbers the compulsory attendance requirement provisions from subsections (1)-(5) and (2)-(5) to reflect the addition of the new fifth-day intervention.

Parents or guardians must sign a contract with the school district agreeing to help their child attend regularly, follow the code of conduct, and provide written documentation for absences.

Aims to improve student outcomes by intervening earlier in the absence pattern to prevent student disengagement and dropout.
