Eliminates the student admissions preference for charter schools based on students residing within a 5-mile radius of the school

Adds a new preference option allowing charter schools to give priority to students residing in any portion of the regular school district that is geographically contiguous with the school's location

Retains existing preferences for students in the school's district, those interested in the school's teaching methods or philosophy, at-risk students, and children of school employees

Takes effect for the 2018-2019 school year, requiring any charter school currently using the 5-mile radius preference to discontinue it at that time

Implements recommendations supported by a majority vote of the Enrollment Preferences Task Force established by House Bill 90 of the 147th General Assembly
