Designates May 11, 2017, as a day to formally recognize and commend speech-language pathologists and audiologists in Delaware for their professional service and contributions to citizens with communication disorders.

Acknowledges that approximately 40 million Americans have communication disorders, costing the United States $154 to $186 billion annually in lost productivity, special education, and medical treatment.

Notes that speech-language impairments are the most prevalent disability category for children ages 3-5 and the second most prevalent for students ages 6-21 under IDEA Part B.

Recognizes speech-language pathologists and audiologists employed in Delaware's public schools who help students with speech and language difficulties, hearing disabilities, and other impairments participate effectively in the educational process.

Commends the University of Delaware's College of Health Sciences for launching its first master's program in Speech-Language Pathology in fall 2016, addressing a statewide shortage of services.
